Ride With Us

Time Bicycles Makes a Comeback

Time Bicycles was founded in 1987 and enjoyed early success with multiple Tour de France wins by legends Greg LeMond and Miguel Indurain. Over the next decade, the company developed their own shoe and clipless pedal system used by multiple professional teams. In 2005, Tom Boonen (Quick Step-Innergetic) rode Time in the Tour of Flanders, Paris–Roubaix, the Tour of Belgium and the 2005 World Road Race Championships in Madrid, Spain. Italian rider Paolo Bettini rode Time bicycles during his gold medal-winning ride in the 2004 Athens Olympic Road Race and in the 2006 World Championship Road Race. Australian rider Michael Rogers rode a Time bike to victory in the 2003, 2004, and 2005 World Championship TT.

Time's carbon frames, designed and built in Europe, are different because they're built different using a braided carbon method. The premise behind this innovation, according to founder Roland Cattin was "was not financially motivated and had everything to do with seeking premium performance." See more information here.

The Natural Grocers Cycling Team has multiple members on the Time Alpe d'Huez road bike in 2023 thanks to a partnership agreement with Velo Premiere. With championship pedigree like this, don't be surprised when you see our teammies riding to victory on Time Bicycles.

2023...Here We Come

In mid-November, the team had it's first virtual all-team call to announce our sponsor line up for 2023 and to discuss changes to our management structure. We're very excited to hit the ground running (er...rolling) in 2023 with rides and races all over our geography and continue relationships with our sponsors, both new and old.

Natural Grocers, for the 36th year, continues as title sponsor. Also continuing are partners NOW Foods, Rudy Project, Castelli Cycling, Top Step Sports, Kurt's Energy Bars, Hanover Bikes and Fitting, Spinergy Wheels and Rotor Bike Components.

And, of course, when you do anything long enough, sometimes you have to say goodbye to some people along the way. The upside, of course, is new realtionships like with Tiiga Hydration, our new drink mix partner (for more info, scroll down).

Look for us on the road in Arizona, Wyoming, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri and beyond!

Welcome to our newest sponsor - Tiiga Hydration

We’re so excited to welcome our newest partner, Lincoln, Nebraska based Tiiga Hydration. Here’s what co-founder Jeff Tezak says:

“Tiiga makes a superfruit electrolyte drink mix that provides hydration and supports immune and gut health. Powered by the Baobab superfruit, Tiiga is all natural, plant-based, and gluten-free. Baobab provides a sustainable energy along with natural potassium that helps during exercise. Baobab has been used as an energy source for thousands of years in African culture. The Baobab fruit has been tested in Africa against the World Health Organizations - Oral Rehydration Solution and it showed that it did just as well as the ORS formula. Because of this and our preference for the Whole Foods mission, we wanted to create a hydration-based product using real fruit as the main source of energy with the electrolyte blend.”

Kurt’s Energy Bars goes to Paradise

Kurt’s Energy Bars got a huge boost to their already fantastic reputation by supporting Ironman competitors in Hawaii this month. Kurt Neimackl, the man behind Kurt’s Energy Bars and an Ironman athlete himself, cut a deal with the organizers of the Ironman World Championship in Kona by cutting their bars down to mini size. They were included in every athlete’s goody bag and available throughout the event - all 40,000 of them.

But you don’t have to qualify for Kona to enjoy a Kurt’s Energy Bar…find them across town at your favorite bike shop and around the world at www.kurtsbars.com

Natural Grocers Supports Kansas Bicycle Racing

May 21, 2022

New Century, Kansas — On Sunday May 29, a longtime Kansas City area tradition returns with the 2022 edition of the BRBC Jesse Blancarte Memorial Time Trial.

The event began in the 1990s with a course on 210 highway along the Missouri River in Kansas City’s northland. The race was renamed in Blancarte’s memory after his death in 2002 and eventually moved to the current location at the New Century Air Center Airport (JCI) near Gardner, Kansas.

A time trial is a unique discipline in the cycling world. Riders start one minute apart on a designated course and race against the clock in a variety of specified categories based on skill, age, aero or non-aero equipment and gender. While the event regularly attracts the area’s top cycling talent it also boasts a beginner and youth friendly atmosphere. Time trials are especially attractive to those who wish to compete but are not as comfortable in a large rider pack found in events like road races and criteriums.

The Blue River Bicycle Club (under directeur sportif Kevin Kramer) continues their partnership with sponsors Elite Cycling and Audi Shawnee Mission. Joining the sponsorship team this year is Natural Grocers organic grocery stores providing a grant for low cost racing opportunities for women.

Cheer on the racers or join the fun by registering at BikeReg. The first rider is off at 9am.
